Insitutions and Projects

How it was in the past...

Institutions

In the past, institutions where collected and managed in the CMS (typo3 backend). Insititutions have one contact person (one of the wocat users) and many members (users could select institution in registration form).
In the old Questionnaire database application, the institution could not be entered.

Projects

Projects where not used and managed, neither on the website (CMS) nor in the database application.

How it was planned to be with the new website and QCAT...

  • Institutions and projects are created and managed on the new website (CMS)
  • Institutions and projects are syncronized to QCAT to be used for tech and approach cases.

Problem description

Projects

  • In the meantime (QCAT productive, website under development) the projects where handled separately on qcat in the website
  • On the website projects are important WOCAT projects (projects in which WOCAT people where involved?)
  • On qcat projects where entered by request from users/Partners/Projects without any limitations
  • Furthermore on the website projects are not managed as a data list but as a bunch of webpages, Thus makeing a clean syncronisation painful and error prone.

How to proceed, decisions

Present: Renate Fleiner, Deborah Niggli, Kurt Gerber, Lukas Vonlanthen

  • Institutions will be managed in the CMS as planned.
  • Institutions can only be created and changed by WOCAT Secretariat
  • Institutions will be syncronized to QCAT on an hourly basis.
  • Projects will be managed separately in QCAT and Website as they are different entitites.
  • In QCAT projects will need an additional attribute: URL
  • Projects can only be created by the WOCAT Secretariat
